Namibia, where thinking is free
I had the privilege to join my parents and brother for a family trip when my dad turned 70.
So, my brother arranged that I fly over from Australia to Cape Town without my parents knowing. I left the kids and the husband in Brisbane and packed my binoculars and safari hat and off I went.
I arrived at the airport expecting hooray’s and hugs, instead I got one hooray and two stunned mullets! My mum and dad could not believe that I was actually standing in front of them and couldn't speak to me for about an hour.
My brother, who owns WineFlies Tour Company in South Africa took us to so many interesting places. It was the most wonderful time of my life and little did I know that this would be the last time I would see my mum healthy.
She left us in April 2017 and just couldn’t fight cancer any longer. Although this was a trip for my Dad’s birthday, all I could think about is my mum.
Approaching the Namibian border
Nothing and everything for miles
There was just beauty everywhere
My mum and dad.
What a way to end the day.
Photography takes you somewhere, but to actually be somewhere and feel the dust, the sun and smell the air, just makes your soul alive.
I have found what makes me feel alive and that is most definitely travelling!
Leaving the Land Rover for sundowners at the Fish River Canyon
I actually can’t believe that I was amongst these trees.
The small thinking of taking on the mighty
A lot of waiting and thinking.
Where we stayed at Sossusvlei
Some of the beautifully people we met
The roads that never end.
And seeing life where you think there isn’t any.
Thank you for going on this journey with me.
